NMT Thrust Spherical Roller Bearings High Temperature & Impact Resistant Self-Aligning Heavy-Duty Thrust Bearings for Vertical Mills, Rotary Kilns and Large Vertical Equipment

Vertical roller mills, cement rotary kilns, large vertical planetary reducers and extrusion granulators are super-large core equipment in building materials, mining and chemical industries. Thrust support bearings operate under harsh long-term conditions: enormous continuous axial thrust, low-speed heavy-duty rotation, alternating impact loads from materials, shaft inclination caused by operational vibration, coaxial deviation induced by frame deformation, high ambient dust concentration, thermal radiation from main equipment and 24-hour non-stop continuous operation. Ordinary thrust bearings have no self-aligning capability. Slight shaft tilt will lead to unilateral loading of rollers and rapid edge stress concentration and fatigue spalling. Once thrust bearings fail, mill roller lifting, unbalanced operation of rotary kilns will occur, forcing emergency shutdown of the whole production line and resulting in massive production losses and expensive maintenance costs. Conventional thrust roller bearings lack alignment compensation and cannot adapt to deformation and inclination of vertical main machines, which has long been a common challenge for heavy machinery manufacturers and operation teams of mines and cement plants.

Focusing on R&D and manufacturing of large heavy-duty thrust bearings, Japan NMT launches thrust spherical roller bearing series to solve industry pain points of traditional thrust bearings including absence of self-aligning function, roller eccentric spalling caused by shaft tilt, vulnerable cages under heavy impact and premature grease carbonization under high temperature. Adopting optimized structure of spherical housing washer plus inclined symmetric rollers, combined with five core upgrades including high-purity heavy-duty bearing alloy steel, precision crowning on roller ends, high-strength solid brass cages, stabilized deep hardening heat treatment and clearances matched for low-speed heavy-load conditions, the series combines powerful axial load capacity and self-aligning performance. Limited angular tilt between shaft and housing is permitted. Widely matched with vertical mills, rotary kilns, vertical reducers and large extrusion equipment, the bearings effectively absorb frame deformation and assembly deviation, disperse contact stress and greatly improve impact fatigue service life.

Core Product Advantages

1. Built-in self-aligning function tolerating shaft inclination and frame deformation: The spherical housing washer enables excellent self-aligning performance. When deformation occurs and shafts tilt during equipment operation, the bearing can adaptively deflect, avoiding unilateral loading of rolling elements and fundamentally solving eccentric spalling problems of ordinary thrust bearings.

2. Ultra-high unidirectional axial load capacity to withstand continuous heavy loads and shocks: Line-contact bearing form of inclined spherical rollers provides large effective bearing area. It bears huge sustained axial thrust from self-weight of vertical machines and material grinding, buffers alternating impact loads during start-stop and material impact, meeting strict load requirements of heavy equipment.

3. Precision roller crowning relieving edge stress concentration: Optimized crown profiling on both ends of rollers eliminates peak edge stress under heavy tilted loads, restrains edge pitting and spalling and markedly improves contact fatigue durability under long-term alternating loads.

4. Thermally stable material and heat treatment adapting to thermal radiation of main machines: Premium high-purity bearing alloy steel dedicated for heavy machinery undergoes deep hardening and stabilized tempering. Metallographic structure remains stable under high temperature, resisting high-temperature creep and slowing surface wear and fatigue damage caused by combined high temperature and dust.

5. High-strength solid brass cages resistant to deformation and breakage under heavy impact: Integrated solid brass cages feature higher rigidity, superior impact resistance and better high-temperature tolerance compared with pressed cages. They steadily guide roller operation continuously and prevent bearing seizure triggered by cage fracture under impact conditions.

Application Scenarios

Bottom thrust supports for vertical roller mills processing cement, slag and limestone; thrust supports for supporting rollers and riding rings of cement and metallurgical rotary kilns; thrust bearings for large vertical planetary reducers and main vertical mill reducers; axial supports for chemical extrusion granulators and large vertical stirring equipment; axial limiting positions of large vertical crushing machinery in mining industry.

Precision Quality Assurance

NMT thrust spherical roller bearings are manufactured strictly in accordance with Japanese heavy-duty industrial bearing standards. Ultrasonic flaw detection is implemented on large-size raw material blanks. Tests including continuous heavy axial load durability test, fatigue test under tilted self-aligning condition, high-temperature dimensional stability test, alternating impact durability test and dust abrasion simulation test are carried out. Featuring sufficient load capacity, reliable self-alignment, excellent impact and high-temperature resistance, the bearings fully adapt to long-hour low-speed heavy-duty continuous operation of large vertical main machines in building materials, mining and metallurgy sectors.
