✅ 316L stainless steel rings and rolling elements – NMT marine bearings feature 316L all-stainless steel construction – inner rings, outer rings and rolling elements all made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. 316L stainless steel, with its molybdenum content, offers significantly superior corrosion resistance to seawater, salt spray and chemicals compared to ordinary stainless steel. 316 stainless steel bearings can withstand temperatures up to 500°C (without cages) and offer exceptional resistance to seawater, salt spray and chemicals. Stainless steel resists seawater and chemical attack by forming a dense chromium oxide passive film on the surface. Even when locally damaged, the passive film self-repairs in the presence of oxygen, continuously protecting the bearing substrate from seawater chloride attack.
