Japan NMT Spherical Roller Bearings, Double Row Spherical Roller Bearings for Fans, Reducers, Heavy-Duty Shock-Resistant Large Rolling Bearings
1 Structural Composition and Working Principle of NMT Spherical Roller Bearings
Double row spherical roller bearings consist of inner ring, spherical outer ring, two rows of symmetrical barrel-shaped rollers and cages. The outer ring has spherical raceways, allowing relative angular deflection between inner and outer rings and delivering excellent self-aligning performance to compensate for shaft bending and mounting misalignment.
They support extremely heavy radial loads as well as bidirectional axial loads, with much higher load capacity than ball bearings of equivalent size. Uniformly loaded barrel rollers make them suitable for low-speed, heavy-load conditions accompanied by vibration and shock. Japan NMT spherical roller bearings adopt optimized roller profiles to reduce edge stress. Multiple clearance variants are available for normal temperature, high temperature and significant thermal expansion scenarios. They have relatively low limiting speed compared with other roller bearings and are not suitable for ultra-high-speed operation.
2 Core Performance Advantages of Japan NMT Spherical Roller Bearings
First, built-in self-aligning function tolerates considerable shaft misalignment, lowers assembly precision requirements and prevents premature failure caused by shaft bending.
Second, outstanding heavy-load capacity. Double-row barrel roller structure offers excellent vibration and shock resistance for continuous heavy-duty operation.
Third, capable of supporting combined radial and bidirectional axial loads to satisfy complex force conditions of industrial equipment.
Fourth, abundant clearance options including standard, C3 and C4 enlarged clearance for high-temperature machinery with significant thermal elongation.
Fifth, comprehensive product range mainly in open construction, compatible with both grease and oil lubrication.
Sixth, internationally standardized dimensions with great interchangeability for maintenance replacement of imported spherical roller bearings on legacy heavy machinery.

4 Model Selection, Assembly and Daily Operation & Maintenance Guidelines
4.1 Key Points for Structure Selection
Standard clearance: steady load at normal temperature, reducers and fans with minor shaft expansion.
C3 clearance: continuously heated machinery with obvious thermal elongation and elevated ambient temperature.
C4 enlarged clearance: high-temperature kilns, vertical mills and heavy crushers featuring large radial and axial expansion.
Cage types: pressed steel cages for economical general use; solid brass cages provide higher strength, shock resistance and temperature resistance for dusty heavy-duty environments.
4.2 Assembly Specifications
Mounting force should only act on end faces of inner or outer rings. Never apply direct pressure on rollers to avoid surface indentations. Although self-aligning, the bearing cannot remedy severe shaft bending; shaft machining and alignment should be optimized at source.
Strictly maintain cleanliness during assembly. Dust and grit entering raceways rapidly lead to roller spalling and pitting. Control hot mounting temperature to avoid damaging bearing material. Follow interference fit specifications properly. Insufficient interference causes inner ring creep and slippage; excessive interference reduces internal clearance drastically and leads to overheating and seizure.
4.3 Lubrication Suggestions
EP grease is preferred for low-speed heavy-load operation; circulating oil lubrication is recommended for continuously running large equipment with good heat dissipation. Machinery under heavy shock loads requires lubricants with anti-wear extreme pressure additives.
Do not overfill grease; reserve space for heat dissipation. Select sealed versions or install extra dust covers for severely dusty sites. Never mix greases of different brands or base oil types. Carry out regular regreasing to expel wear debris out of the bearing interior.
4.4 Daily Inspection Focus
Continuously monitor bearing temperature and equipment vibration amplitude. Persistent temperature rise usually originates from insufficient clearance, excessive interference, lacking lubrication or degraded grease. Gradually rising vibration indicates foreign particle contamination, roller fatigue spalling or cage damage.
Pay attention to abnormal metal noise during operation. For shock-load machinery, regularly inspect foundation anchor bolts to prevent resonance accelerating bearing deterioration. Shut down for inspection immediately once persistent abnormal noise occurs to avoid roller fragmentation and catastrophic equipment failure. Avoid prolonged overload operation to slow contact fatigue.
5 Import Substitution Value and Supply Chain Advantages of NMT Spherical Roller Bearings
Manufacturers of fans, reducers, mining and metallurgical heavy machinery often face high unit prices, long lead times and difficulties sourcing large-size spare parts when purchasing imported spherical roller bearings. Japan NMT spherical roller bearings are manufactured from high-toughness bearing steel with stable quenching and tempering. Precisely ground rollers and raceways improve load capacity and fatigue service life, satisfying OEM assembly and heavy equipment maintenance.
All sizes conform to international standards; no secondary machining on shafts or housings is needed for direct on-site replacement. Popular standard models are stocked to rapidly fulfill bulk orders and emergency breakdown repairs. Streamlined supply chains eliminate multi-level markup and cut long-term component procurement costs for heavy industry enterprises.
Heavy-duty spherical roller bearings combine self-aligning property and powerful load capacity, operating reliably under misalignment, vibration and shock. They reduce unplanned downtime for heavy machinery, optimize the heavy equipment bearing supply chain and mitigate production losses caused by long lead times of imported heavy-duty bearings.
