NMT Bearings: Solving Washdown Challenges in Food & Pharma with "Tolerant" Sliding Design
In food processing and pharmaceutical packaging lines, frequent high-pressure washdowns and chemical cleaners are fatal to traditional rolling bearings. Once foreign particles invade the raceways, catastrophic wear is inevitable. NMT sliding bearings offer a disruptive solution for this harsh environment. Featuring a specialized sliding contact surface, NMT's softer substrate exhibits unique "tolerance," safely embedding microscopic particles to prevent shaft scratching. This "tolerate rather than fight" strategy, combined with IP68 sealing and low-volatility grease, allows robots to operate reliably in wet, corrosive environments without complex external protection, drastically reducing maintenance frequency and hidden costs.
For extreme conditions in commercial washing equipment and food sterilizers, NMT bearings are deeply customized. The sealing system utilizes food-grade FKM double seals and a pressure-balanced waterproof chamber, withstanding 80°C temperatures and 10MPa high-pressure water jets to completely block cleaning fluids and food residues. In terms of lubrication, NMT uses specialized long-life solid grease with strong anti-emulsification properties, effectively delaying water displacement and maintaining lubrication stability even under direct high-pressure water impact. Additionally, ceramic rolling elements reduce the friction coefficient to 0.0012, ensuring quieter operation and significant energy savings.
