NMT Stainless Steel Spherical Roller Bearing
1. Core Working Condition Defects of Anti-Corrosion Spherical Roller Bearings for Heavy Industry
Mining, port, offshore engineering and metallurgical salt chemical equipment operate under extremely harsh conditions. Long-term rotation of ball mills causes deflection deformation of the main shaft, settlement of conveyor frames brings alignment misalignment of bearing housings, and periodic alternating heavy loads are generated during equipment start-stop and ore impact. Ore slurry from ore washing workshops, sea salt fog along the coast, acid pickling waste gas from metallurgy and corrosive water vapor from salt chemical plants continuously erode bearing cavities.
Conventional carbon steel spherical roller bearings only adopt single-layer skeleton oil seals for protection. Corrosive media easily penetrate into bearings, forming large rust pits on double-row rollers and outer & inner spherical raceways. Under eccentric self-aligning load, stress concentration occurs at rust weak points, triggering edge chipping of rollers and fracture & collapse of cages. Ore slurry dilutes lubricating grease to form abrasive slurry, causing severe raceway wear, sharp expansion of bearing clearance, excessive main shaft runout, intensified overall unit vibration and fatigue cracking of reducer and cylinder housings.
Once a large main shaft bearing seizes due to rust, the entire production line shuts down directly. Hoisting, disassembly, spindle straightening and bearing housing repair for large heavy industry equipment often take more than ten days. Production loss plus costs for repair parts and hoisting services result in enormous expenses. Carbon steel bearings serve less than 6 months under corrosive heavy-load conditions. Complicated disassembly and assembly procedures for large bearings lead to sharp increases in maintenance working hours and spare parts costs after frequent replacement.
2. Material Advantage: Integrally Forged High-Chromium Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel for Pitting Resistance & Alternating Heavy-Load Toughness
Inner rings, outer rings, spherical rollers and integral solid cages of NMT spherical roller bearings are forged from high-chromium-molybdenum corrosion-resistant stainless steel blanks, eliminating surface anti-corrosion processes such as painting and sherardizing. The dense passive film of stainless steel resists electrochemical corrosion from chloride ions, acid water vapor and ore slurry electrolyte, preventing abrasive wear on spherical raceways caused by peeling coating hard particles.
Spherical rollers and double-row raceways are processed via ultra-precision crown profiling and deep quenching for uniform raceway hardness to resist ploughing wear from ore sand particles, while retaining high toughness in the core to adapt to alternating stress from spindle deflection and heavy impact and avoid edge chipping and fracture of rollers. Even if a small amount of corrosive medium seeps into the cavity, stainless steel components will not rust, expand and lock rapidly, providing buffer time for orderly shutdown and maintenance of the production line and preventing major shaft seizure accidents.
3. Structural Advantage: Double-Row Spherical Self-Aligning Structure Adapting to Shaft Deformation and Installation Alignment Error
The classic self-aligning structure with outer spherical raceways and double-row crowned rollers allows angular deflection of 1°–2° between inner and outer rings, perfectly adapting to coaxiality deviation of bearing housings caused by ball mill spindle bending, conveyor frame subsidence and equipment foundation settlement, eliminating overload damage on roller edges induced by eccentric load.
The parallel arrangement of double-row rollers greatly expands load-bearing area, capable of bearing ultra-large radial load and bidirectional axial thrust simultaneously to fit combined force conditions including ball mill dead weight, conveyor tension and axial thrust of stirring equipment. Two structural types are available: straight bore for direct mounting and tapered bore for adapter sleeve locking. Tapered bore models avoid hot mounting, and axial positioning and disassembly of bearings can be completed with adapter sleeves to greatly reduce on-site assembly difficulty for large bearings and adapt to maintenance conditions at heavy industry sites.
4. Graded Sealing Design for Standard Wet Mining Operation & Reinforced Severe Corrosion Resistance for Offshore & Salt Chemical Industry
Two sealing solutions are formulated according to corrosion intensity for conventional wet heavy-load mining conditions and severe corrosion conditions for offshore platforms & salt chemical plants to balance grease storage, heat dissipation and anti-slurry/seawater penetration performance.
The standard sealing for ore washing plants, ball mills and inland belt conveyors (conventional ore slurry corrosion) adopts four-stage folded labyrinth mud baffles, double-lip nitrile skeleton oil seals and annular grease reservoirs. Multi-stage labyrinths block direct impact of large slag and mud on oil seal lips, double-lip oil seals prevent slurry penetration, and outer annular reservoirs store extreme-pressure grease to continuously lubricate roller rolling surfaces during equipment rotation and reduce dry friction. It is suitable for main bearings of inland mines, sand conveyors and wet mineral processing equipment with stable long-term operation after regular extreme-pressure grease filling.
The reinforced heavy-duty sealing for offshore platform reducers, coastal bucket wheel machines and salt chemical stirring equipment (salt fog & chemical medium severe corrosion) consists of fully wrapped stainless steel labyrinth shields, FKM high-temperature corrosion-resistant oil seals, end-face sealing pressure plates and chemical-hydrolysis-resistant synthetic grease. Full stainless steel shields isolate bearing coverage from wave splashing and corrosive mist. FKM oil seals resist acid, alkali, seawater and aging hardening. End-face pressure plates seal axial gaps, and chemical-resistant synthetic grease filled in the cavity prevents grease failure from emulsification by brine and acid media, dedicated to core main shaft bearings of offshore engineering equipment, coastal port large machinery and salt chemical reactors.
5. Abundant Spot Inventory & Custom Machining for Extra-Large Size Bearings
We maintain spot inventory of large-size spherical roller bearings commonly used in heavy industry including 22220, 22224, 22320, 23222 and 23030 series, covering mainstream models for ball mill main bearings, bucket wheel slewing bearings, belt conveyor tail tension bearings and chemical stirring spindle bearings. Full-truck delivery to factory zones is available for urgent failures to shorten downtime maintenance duration.
Customized heavy industry-specific products include ultra-heavy-load bearings with widened & thickened rollers, integrated bearings with positioning flanges on outer rings, bearings matched with large-taper-bore adapter sleeves, split stainless steel spherical roller bearings and extra-large integrated anti-corrosion main shaft bearings. Dimensional customization is supported based on physical samples of used bearings and equipment spindle drawings to replace high-cost imported European and American anti-corrosion heavy-load bearings and cut bulk spare parts procurement costs for heavy industry enterprises.
6. Rigorous Full-Scale Reliability Test under Coupled Heavy-Load & Corrosion Conditions
All finished products undergo coupled heavy-limit condition tests: long-term neutral salt spray corrosion test, cyclic ore slurry immersion aging test, angular self-aligning deflection endurance test, radial-axial alternating load fatigue test, high-pressure slurry jet sealing anti-permeation test and spherical contour precision inspection.
Only bearings qualified in corrosion resistance, self-aligning flexibility, load-bearing strength and sealing anti-permeation performance are delivered. Products with hidden rust risks, deformed roller contours or sealing defects are scrapped to avoid malignant accidents such as cylinder cracking, spindle bending and full production line shutdown caused by failure of large bearings. Consistent spherical precision and clearance across batches simplify centering and assembly for maintenance personnel on-site and adapt to centralized spare parts warehouse management for large heavy industry enterprises.
7. Full-Life Cycle Operation Cost Control to Avoid Huge Losses from Heavy Industry Equipment Shutdown
Major hidden costs for heavy industry enterprises focus on production output loss from unplanned shutdown, corrective maintenance of large main shafts, machining repair of bearing housings and expenses for large hoisting operations. Ordinary carbon steel spherical roller bearings suffer rapid corrosion and wear, requiring shutdown and disassembly for replacement every six months. Disassembly and assembly of large bearings need cranes and tooling fixtures, and repeated disassembly scratches spindle journals to cause permanent spindle damage, which can only be repaired by costly spindle turning afterwards.
NMT stainless steel anti-corrosion spherical roller bearings quadruple service life under corrosive heavy-load conditions, drastically reducing replacement frequency of large bearings and unplanned shutdown accidents. The excellent self-aligning structure disperses bending stress of the main shaft to protect spindles and bearing housings from eccentric impact and corrosion damage. High-performance composite seals extend lubrication maintenance intervals and cut disassembly maintenance frequency for large equipment as well as expenses for hoisting, labor and auxiliary materials. Long-term application effectively lowers comprehensive equipment operation and maintenance expenditure for mining groups, port operation companies, offshore engineering equipment enterprises and chemical plants, ensuring stable all-weather operation of large continuous production equipment.
