NMT Stainless Steel Deep Groove Ball Bearing, 304/316 Anti-Corrosion Waterproof Rust-Proof Bearing for Food Machinery & Seawater Equipment

1. Fatal Defects of Ordinary Bearings in Humid and Corrosive Working Conditions

Food water washing equipment, marine aquaculture machinery, chemical spraying equipment and outdoor open-air machinery operate in an environment filled with water vapor, salt water and acid-base detergent all year round. Conventional carbon steel bearings are high-frequency vulnerable parts of equipment, with four core failures:

First, rapid surface rust and locking. After contacting salt water, hot water and disinfectant, red rust quickly forms on the surface of inner ring, outer ring and steel balls of carbon steel bearings. Rust residue fills bearing clearance, causing rotation jamming and even direct locking shutdown, which directly damages the rotating shaft.

Second, rust debris pollutes finished products. Rust powder falling off bearings of food assembly lines, sauce processing and aquatic conveying equipment mixes into food and aquatic raw materials, leading to scrapping of whole batches of materials and triggering food hygiene quality inspection accidents.

Third, seal failure accelerates corrosion. Water vapor penetrates through seal gaps into the bearing cavity, ordinary grease emulsifies and fails when exposed to water, losing lubrication and protection. The bearing corrodes from the inside out, and the maintenance cycle is less than half a month.

Fourth, deformation and failure under low temperature and humidity. Cold storage and cold chain conveying equipment have large temperature difference between day and night with continuous condensation accumulation. Rust spots on bearings form stress concentration, leading to cracking and fragmentation under load force, resulting in frequent unplanned shutdown of production lines.

NMT stainless steel anti-corrosion deep groove ball bearings are formed based on 304 and 316 austenitic stainless steel base materials, with native rust and corrosion resistance without additional anti-corrosion coating. 2.1 Optional 304/316 Base Materials for Graded Corrosion Resistance Matching

The basic version adopts 304 stainless steel with basic rust prevention performance to resist clear water condensation, cold water cleaning, light water mist and outdoor rain. It has outstanding cost performance, mostly used for normal-temperature food conveying, cleaning machines, cold chain rollers and ordinary aquatic equipment.

The high-end version is upgraded to 316 stainless steel. Molybdenum element is added to strengthen salt spray, seawater, weak acid and alkali resistance. It can be directly used in seawater pumps, seafood fishing machinery, chemical spraying and salt-containing cleaning processes to resist chloride ion corrosion and avoid rust penetration after long-term immersion in salt water.

Integrated forging and precision turning are adopted without electroplating, painting and other surface coatings to eliminate material pollution caused by coating shedding and meet the clean use requirements of food production.

2.2 Full-Process Precision Grinding to Stabilize Rotation Performance of Stainless Steel

Stainless steel features high toughness and difficult processing. NMT uses special stainless steel grinding wheels and low-speed precision grinding technology to perform mirror polishing on inner and outer ring raceways and steel balls to avoid burrs and processing lines prone to stainless steel.

The raceway curve is smooth and uniform for smooth bearing rotation without jamming, low friction and low heat generation. Even under continuous operation in humid environment, high friction temperature will not accelerate corrosion and aging. Stainless steel balls of the same material are adopted for steel balls, and the materials of inner ring, outer ring, steel balls and cage are unified to avoid galvanic corrosion of dissimilar metals.

Radial clearance is strictly calibrated before delivery, mainly standard C0 clearance. Customized C3 large clearance is available for cold chain and high-temperature cleaning equipment with large temperature difference to offset thermal expansion jamming.

2.3 Three Sealing Structures for Accurate Protection Matching of Dry and Wet Scenarios

Open Type (OPEN): No sealing cover, convenient for overall cleaning with high-pressure water guns, suitable for food rollers and detachable cleaning equipment for dead-angle-free cleaning and regular disinfection maintenance.

ZZ Double-sided Stainless Steel Dust Cover: Stainless steel stamped sealing cover with inherent rust prevention. Used in dry, dusty and humid environments to block water vapor, food residues and fine impurities from entering the bearing cavity. The protective shell will not rust, deform or fall off.

2RS Double-sided Water-Resistant Rubber Seal: Food-grade nitrile rubber lip seal closely fits the bearing end face to effectively block high-pressure water spray, salt water splashing and water vapor intrusion into the cavity. Suitable for soaking and spraying equipment to greatly extend the service life of lubricating grease.

All models can be pre-filled with food-grade white grease or special waterproof grease on demand for direct installation after unpacking.

Mainstream deep groove ball sizes of 6000, 6200 and 6300, thin-wall miniature stainless steel bearings of 6800 and 6900, and miniature flange stainless steel bearings are in stock. For maintenance of old corroded equipment, original carbon steel bearings can be directly replaced without modifying shaft diameter, bearing seat and mounting base to quickly complete anti-corrosion upgrading of equipment. Non-standard customization is also available: widened and thickened stainless steel bearings, flange positioning bearings, ultra-thin-wall miniature bearings and large-clearance anti-corrosion bearings to meet personalized needs of special anti-corrosion equipment.

4. Installation, Use and Anti-Corrosion Maintenance Tips

The hardness of stainless steel bearings is lower than bearing steel. Do not knock hard during installation. Use a sleeve to press the inner ring to avoid indentation on the raceway leading to early wear.

For long-term immersion in seawater and high salt spray working conditions, prioritize 316 stainless steel with 2RS sealing structure, and replenish waterproof lubricating grease every 3 months regularly.

After each high-temperature water washing and disinfection of food equipment, air-dry for a short time if possible to reduce water accumulation inside the bearing cavity.

Store in a dry warehouse and avoid long-term placement in coastal high salt spray warehouses with moisture-proof protection for outer packaging.

5. Analysis of Overall Procurement Value

Although the unit purchase price of stainless steel bearings is higher than carbon steel bearings in the short term, their service life under corrosive working conditions is 5 to 10 times that of carbon steel bearings, which greatly reduces hidden costs such as shutdown replacement, manual maintenance, production stoppage loss and material pollution loss.
