NMT Double Row Tapered Roller Bearings, Bidirectional Limit Bearings for Heavy Truck Axles and Mining Equipment, High Load Impact Resistant Maintenance-Free Tapered Roller Bearings
1. Structural Advantages of Double Row Tapered Roller Bearings
Double row tapered roller bearings are divided into back-to-back (DB) and face-to-face (DF) integrated pre-assembled units, eliminating on-site pairing adjustment and greatly improving assembly efficiency.
Back-to-back structure features longer load action span and strong anti-overturning moment performance, suitable for axles, knuckles and roll stands prone to eccentric load overturning. Face-to-face structure delivers moderate axial rigidity and good thermal expansion adaptability, applied to reducer main shafts and conveyor drive drums.
Two groups of tapered rollers jointly bear loads, with radial bearing capacity over 1.8 times that of single-row bearings of the same size. It locks the axial position of shafting in both directions to absorb forward and reverse axial impact during acceleration, braking and steering, avoiding gear meshing deviation caused by spindle play. The separable structure allows independent disassembly of inner and outer rings, cutting axle overhaul and spindle maintenance workload by more than half without disassembling the whole transmission assembly.
2. Common Failures of Single-Row Bearings on Heavy-Duty Equipment
2.1 Heavy Truck Axle & Differential Damage
When climbing with full load or emergency braking, the rear axle bears bidirectional axial impact. Single-row tapered roller bearings only support unidirectional axial force, leading to rapid clearance expansion, differential gear dislocation, rear axle humming noise, steering shake, even gear fracture and half shaft locking resulting in vehicle breakdown.
2.2 Mining Scraper Conveyor Spindle Failure
Under 24-hour full-load underground operation, chain tension generates reciprocating axial pull. Failed one-way positioning of single-row bearings causes spindle axial play, sprocket eccentric wear and chain derailment. Limited underground maintenance space leads to long downtime and interrupted mining production.
2.3 Construction Machinery Steering Bridge Fault
Alternating axial load during left-right steering causes unbalanced stress on single-row bearings, unilateral raceway wear, heavy steering and front wheel wobble, reducing driving stability and bringing rollover risks.
2.4 Rolling Mill Roll Support Defect
Fluctuating steel strip tension creates alternating axial pull, out-of-control clearance of single-row bearings triggers roll axial play, uneven rolling thickness, edge burrs and dimensional overrun, lowering finished product yield.
3. Core Process Upgrades of NMT Double Row Tapered Roller Bearings
3.1 High-Purity Forged Base Material
Inner rings, outer rings and rolling elements are made of vacuum arc remelting bearing steel with extremely low internal inclusions. After die forging, stress relief annealing, medium-frequency raceway quenching and low-temperature tempering, the raceway hardness reaches HRC60–64. The hardened layer resists pitting corrosion while the core retains toughness against impact cracking. Internal defects are reduced by 70% compared with ordinary medium-frequency steel for extended fatigue life.
3.2 Two Types of Cages for Different Working Conditions
Heavy impact scenarios (mining trucks, underground equipment): Solid turned brass cage with excellent toughness to avoid deformation and cracking under vibration, realizing accurate roller positioning and jamming prevention.
Continuous operation scenarios (conveyors, rolling mills): Thickened stamped steel cage with compact structure and outstanding heat conduction to avoid heat accumulation during high-speed continuous operation, cost-effective for equipment maintenance.
3.3 Multi-Layer Composite Sealing for Harsh Environments
Basic version: Double-lip NBR oil seal for dry indoor transmission to retain grease and prevent dry friction.
Reinforced dustproof version: Oil seal + steel dust baffle to block coal powder, gravel and ore dust for open-pit conveyors and aggregate plant equipment.
All-weather industrial version: FKM oil seal + labyrinth dust groove + outer dust cover for triple protection against mine mud, roadway water and equipment washing water, realizing long-term maintenance-free operation and extending maintenance interval to 8–12 months.
3.4 Pre-Adjusted Integrated Clearance at Factory
Three finished specifications are delivered directly according to working conditions: large clearance for heavy-load axles, small precision clearance for rolling mills and standard clearance for conveyors. On-site assembly without shim adjustment eliminates early overheating and vibration damage caused by manual adjustment errors, matching quick replacement in repair shops.
4. Scenario-Based Selection Guide
4.1 Structural Selection
Back-to-back (DB): Heavy-duty truck drive axles, loader steering axles, mining truck hubs, roll supports for anti-overturning and anti-eccentric load performance.
Face-to-face (DF): Large scraper conveyor spindles, hard-tooth reducer output shafts, bucket wheel stacker-reclaimer drums to buffer thermal expansion stress.
4.2 Equipment-Specific Selection
Heavy commercial vehicles (semi-trailers, dump trucks): Brass cage reinforced sealed bearings to eliminate rear axle noise and differential damage for fleet bulk replacement.
Underground coal mining conveyors: Triple-sealed bearings for mud, water and dust resistance to cut underground bearing replacement frequency.
Open-pit loaders & bulldozers: Back-to-back heavy-duty bearings to cope with off-road bump and steering impact.
Metallurgical hot & cold rolling mills: Precision clearance bearings to stabilize roll axial position and guarantee rolling dimensional accuracy.
Aggregate belt conveyors: Economical steel cage sealed bearings for low-cost spare parts replacement on production lines.
4.3 General Interchangeability
Fully compliant with GB/T 299 national standard and ISO international dimensional standards, direct interchange with mainstream brand bearings. No machining modification on shafts or bearing housings for emergency maintenance in repair shops and OEM supporting.
5. Factory Full-Range Quality Control
Dimensional inspection: Automatic precision detector for inner bore, outer diameter, width and assembly clearance with micron-level tolerance control.
Surface inspection: Raceway contour and roughness flaw detection to avoid stress concentration from tool marks and collisions.
Working condition simulation test: Alternating axial impact durability bench test, high-speed high-temperature continuous operation test, high-pressure water spray sealing test.
Material inspection: Raw material metallographic analysis and hardness sampling inspection with batch material reports and factory certificates.
Finished bearings are pre-filled with extreme-pressure long-life grease, coated with anti-rust oil and moisture-proof packaging to avoid rust during long-distance land transportation and marine storage.
