1. Typical Failures of Ordinary Bearings for Precision Equipment

The spindle of CNC machining centers and cylindrical grinders runs at tens of thousands of RPM for a long time. Ordinary deep groove ball bearings cannot bear axial tension, resulting in large runout at the spindle end, wavy vibration lines during turning and grinding of workpieces, and scrapping due to excessive dimensional tolerance.

Ball screw feed shafts require rigid positioning. Uncontrollable axial clearance of ordinary bearings causes screw play during rapid start-stop and reversing of the machine tool, loss of CNC point position accuracy and large positioning deviation for drilling and milling.

Long-term high-speed operation of high-speed motor spindles leads to heat accumulation due to poor bearing lubrication structure, sharp temperature rise, carbonization failure of grease, ablation of steel balls and raceways, resulting in extremely high overhaul and replacement cost for spindles.

Spindles of vertical machining centers and gantry machine tools bear alternating axial cutting force. Insufficient bearing capacity of single bearing causes unilateral wear. After long-term operation, the precision deformation of spindle taper hole leads to unstable tool holder clamping.

Bearings at both ends of variable-frequency high-speed motor rotors suffer slip wear of steel balls caused by high-speed centrifugal force, continuous increase of motor noise, failure of dynamic balance and intensified overall vibration.

Multiple contact angles for working condition matching

15° contact angle (AC): maximum limit speed and low friction, mainly for high-speed motor spindles and high-speed grinding spindles;

25° contact angle (C): balanced speed and axial rigidity, mainstream model for general machine tool spindles and ball screw supports;

30° contact angle (B): maximum axial load capacity, used for heavy-duty cutting spindles, vertical spindles and heavy-duty screw positioning.

A single bearing bears one-way axial force, and multiple sets of paired bearings realize two-way axial limit.

Three-stage precision machining for mirror-level raceway accuracy

Double ultra-precision grinding is adopted for inner and outer ring raceways to achieve mirror-level surface roughness, reduce sliding friction of steel balls at high speed, lower heat generation and noise. P4/P2 high-precision bearings feature ultra-small radial runout to meet micron-level machining requirements of precision grinders and five-axis machine tools.

Two versions: all-steel bearing & hybrid ceramic bearing

Standard all-steel version: cost-effective for mass production supporting of conventional CNC equipment, feed screws and ordinary high-speed motors;

Silicon nitride ceramic ball hybrid version: low ceramic density, low centrifugal force, high temperature resistance and anti-seizure. The limit speed is over 30% higher than steel ball bearings, suitable for ultra-high-speed spindles and high-speed grinding equipment.

Standardized three pairing assembly modes

DB back-to-back pairing: strong rigidity against overturning moment and bending moment, the first choice for long spindles, cantilever screws and vertical spindles;

DF face-to-face pairing: excellent coaxiality, good adaptability to base deformation, commonly used for short spindles and horizontal spindles;

DT tandem pairing: doubled axial bearing capacity, specially used for heavy-duty screws and large-thrust feed shafts. Complete preload assembly (light/medium/heavy preload) can be finished before delivery for direct installation.

Seal and lubrication designed for high-speed conditions

Three structures: open type, rubber seal 2RS and metal seal Z. Open type is suitable for ultra-high-speed spindles with oil-air lubrication and oil injection lubrication; sealed type adapts to long-term grease-lubricated motors and screws to prevent cutting fluid and dust from entering the bearing cavity and contaminating raceways.

4. Assembly, Operation & Maintenance Guidelines

Preload matching for working conditions (core point)

Select light preload for high-speed light-cutting spindles to reduce frictional heat; choose medium/heavy preload for heavy-duty cutting screws and vertical spindles to enhance rigidity and suppress vibration. Do not disassemble paired bearings arbitrarily, as disassembly will invalidate pairing accuracy and prevent reuse.

Differentiated lubrication application

Speed <8000rpm: adopt high-temperature resistant high-speed grease for regular grease replenishment maintenance;

Speed >8000rpm open spindle: oil-air lubrication or oil injection lubrication is mandatory to forcibly remove heat. Long-term high-speed operation with grease is forbidden to avoid carbonization and coking.

Assembly specifications

Control the hot mounting temperature of bearings at 80~100℃. High-temperature heating is strictly prohibited to avoid damage to precision raceway accuracy. Assembly force can only act on the end face of the bearing inner ring; knocking the outer ring or steel ball cage directly is forbidden. Replace the complete set of spindle bearings synchronously. Mixing old and new bearings will cause coaxiality error.

Environmental protection

Install bearing end cover seals in the machine tool processing area to prevent water-based cutting fluid from penetrating into bearings and causing rust and pitting corrosion. Fill anti-rust lubricating grease for storage before long-term shutdown of equipment.
